Sample Problem: a stereoisomer of 2-Iodobutane

Select one of the chiral carbons in the molecule by clicking on the the small 'x' button in the table shown below. Manipulate the molecule by dragging the mouse while depressing the button to move the lowest priority atom to the back, and assign R or S stereochemistry. When you have assigned all of the chiral centers in the molecule, and determined if the molecule is chiral or meso, you may check your answers by clicking on the "Show Answers" button. "Clear" will return the molecule to it's original presentation. The "Explain It!" button will offer an explanation of the assignments.
