Stereochemistry
The Stereochemistry Tutorial consists of a series of short reviews covering all aspects of stereochemistry including the recognition of symmetry, the identification of stereocenters and isomers, conversions to and from Fisher Projections, the assignment of absolute configuration and reactions generating stereocenters.
The stereochemistry tutorial is designed to:
- supplement the discussion of stereochemistry in standard texts
- provide examples for practice and review, and
- present stereochemistry problems using the features available in a hypertext document.
The molecule shown in this frame is bromochlorofluoroiodomethane, which is chiral since it possesses a stereocenter bonded to four different groups.
