Past Seminar by Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Herschbach

November 20th

We flew in Dr. Herschbach from Harvard University for a one hour seminar and tour of our facilities. The seminar was held in Lecute Center D5 from 3:00 to about 4:00pm. Take a look at the flyer for more info OR Click here to read up on his work at Harvard

November 3rd

We are celebrating Chemistry Day at the Adler Planetarium along with the Chicago ACS section. We will either meet there or meet on campus and take the #12 bus over. Take a look at Adler Planetarium's flyer

Saturday, November 10th

We are going to Argonne National Laboratory. We will depart at 12pm from the Taylor street light between SES and SEL. Transportation is free as well as the tour. We should return around 4:30pm. A photo ID. is required. Non US citizens must contact any of the officers to fill out a form ahead of time. Hope to see you all there. Check out their homepage


Abbott Internships

Deadline is October 30th

Abbott Laboratories are seeking undergraduates in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology as part of their Research and Development Internship with the Specialyt Product Division. Internships start in the spring and/or summer semester 2002. Contact Co-op/Internship program to sign up for an interview prior to Oct. 30th at UK 350, 312-996-0425. Interviews will be held on Nov.2

The 222nd ACS National Convention

Students were highly encouraged to attend. Thousands and thousands of chemstry faculty from all over were in attendance. The convention was held at the McCormick Place and the Hyatt Regency Chicago from Aug. 26th to 30th.


Past Fundraiser

Goggle Sale

During the first two or three weeks of the semester, volunteers from the ACSSAC will be selling goggles for $4.00 a piece which is cheaper than the bookstores $6.08 after tax price. Money generated will be used for upcoming field trips and speakers.

FermiLab Field Trip

March 31 at 8:30 am we are leaving from the intersection between SES and SEL on Taylor street. All expenses and transportation are covered by the ACS. We expect to return around 3:00 pm. The Harwoods have been extremely generous and invited us to their home for lunch afterwards.
